Inga-Marie Schaefer, MD Receives SFA Last Mile Sarcoma Research Award, NCI SPORE Developmental Research Project
The SFA Last Mile Sarcoma Research Award provides one-year grants to support translational science research on the etiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of human sarcomas. Schaefer received the award for her project “Identification of Therapeutic Strategies to Restore Cell Cycle Control in GIST,” which aims to decipher the mechanisms of cell cycle perturbations in gastrointestinal stromal tumors, paving the way for the recovery of new diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Inga-Marie Schaefer, MD Receives Pablove Foundation Childhood Cancer Research Seed Grant
This grant is awarded to the most innovative, groundbreaking childhood cancer researchers around the world who are committed to improving treatment options and finding cures.
This initial funding is intended to propel researchers’ work forward, to qualify for larger grants, federal funding and clinical trials. Schaefer’s project, “CIC-Rearranged Sarcoma: Biologic Mechanisms and Therapeutic Targeting,” aims to identify biologic mechanisms and targetable vulnerabilities in this sarcoma.
We are recruiting!
We are building our team – the Schaefer Lab is looking for motivated research assistants/technicians, postdoctoral fellows, graduate and undergraduate students, medical students, residents, and clinical fellows – applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
Please reach out to Dr. Schaefer if you are interested in working in a collaborative, supportive, and inspiring environment dedicated to translational sarcoma research.
